Leadership versus Democracy
In a democracy, you have rights (whether inalienable or political) to express opinions - to vote your conscience or your interests. Democracy is concerned with equality in opportunity, access, and voice.
But with leadership, you have responsibilities, not rights. Being a leader means you have to look past your own opinions - your biases - and take into account the needs of others. You collaborate to understand needs, gather evidence, articulate possible solutions.
Leadership is about stewardship, not lording authority over others.
